Brentwood's New Places Keep Landing on Barrington. Here's Where to Go Morning to Night

Last December, a Brentwood News columnist wrote that someone had stopped him to say Brentwood "was now a 'happening' place." He thought of Brentwood as a sleepy place, so he walked the neighborhood for two days to check. He started in Brentwood Village, went down Barrington and finished on San Vicente.

That walk traced the pattern that has firmed up over the past year. Most of Brentwood's new openings are on Barrington, at either end of it. One group sits on the 900 block near San Vicente. The other sits in the Village, just south of Sunset. Barrington is now the street for coffee, a lunch counter, a sit-down dinner or a late burger, and both ends of it are full.

The 900 Block at San Vicente

At its south end, the cluster fits in about a block. A former floor-covering storefront on Barrington was split between two openings, and each now has its own address. The neighbors around them opened over roughly the past eighteen months.

Place Address What it serves Status
La La Land Kind Cafe 11698 San Vicente Blvd., southeast corner at Barrington Coffee Open; Brentwood News described it as busy last December
Burger She Wrote 11686 San Vicente Blvd. Burgers, 25 seats Grand opening October 3, 2026
Sora Temaki Bar 906 S. Barrington Ave. Hand rolls Brentwood page posts dinner, lunch-special and happy-hour menus
Layla Bagels 908 S. Barrington Ave. Bagels, espresso, matcha Officially opened June 30, 2026
Nikó Sando 912 S. Barrington Ave., Unit B Sandwiches Takes pickup orders

Layla Bagels was the summer arrival. According to Brentwood News, Chef Sammi Tarantino announced the official opening on Instagram the evening of June 29, after a soft opening the day before. The case holds plain, everything, sesame and poppy bagels. Gluten-free everything, sesame and plain bagels, plus jalapeño cheddar and blueberry, come from Original Sunshine. There is also a full espresso and matcha bar, babka and banana bread, and open- and closed-face bagel sandwiches.

Sora is the dinner half of the split storefront. The concept started as a rooftop temaki bar at the Original Farmers Market on West 3rd Street. It is part of Savta Hospitality Group and is known for fish flown in from Japan. Chefs prepare each hand roll individually. Between them, the two halves of the old storefront serve bagels and espresso on one side and a dinner menu of hand rolls on the other.

Burger She Wrote opened on San Vicente, but its door is a few steps from the Barrington corner, beside La La Land. It is the chain's first Westside location. Westside Current reported a public grand-opening party on October 3. Hours run 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Eater LA included it in its roundup of new openings, updated October 19.

Farther down, at 1168 S. Barrington Ave., Vui Ve took over the former Pita Bar & Grill space. The Vietnamese restaurant now takes scheduled pickup orders and lists its service hours online. Barrington's food stretch now reaches well south of San Vicente.

The Village End, Where Terroni Took the Walkway

The north end of Barrington had its own run of openings, and the biggest arrived this summer. Terroni opened at 155 S. Barrington Place for all-day dining. Brentwood News reported the opening on July 9, with reservations on Resy. The Southern Italian group's Los Angeles base is its Beverly Boulevard flagship, founded in 2007. The Brentwood menu centers on house-made pasta, traditional pizza and antipasti, with many ingredients imported from Italy.

The seating took months of public discussion at the Brentwood Community Council. In May, the Brentwood News "Brentwood Beat" column reported the outcome. City planners approved four seats along the front of the restaurant and 34 along Barrington Walk, the passage into the Village where the fountain is. Shereen Koules, Terroni's manager, told the council the restaurant could act as an anchor that draws foot traffic to the businesses around it. Because those 34 seats sit on the walkway itself, anyone walking into the Village now passes Terroni's tables.

Several newer places were already open nearby when Terroni arrived:

  • The Wilkes, from chef-owner Dana Slatkin, is in the former Brentwood Inn, where Barrington Avenue and Barrington Place meet, across from the post office. The restaurant is named for the architect of the 1950s building.
  • For the Win, a smash-burger counter at 147 S. Barrington Ave., is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for dine-in, takeout and delivery.
  • All Roads, a pinseria and enoteca, takes reservations and online orders for daily service.
  • Hank's Bagels announced in October 2025 that it would open its fourth shop in the former Yu Cake space. It lists 11725 Barrington Court as its Brentwood address.

That puts a bagel shop at each end of Barrington, with Hank's in the Village and Layla on the 900 block.

What San Vicente Is Reported to Lose

San Vicente is still Brentwood's main street, but the openings along it this year have mostly been at its Barrington corner. A longtime San Vicente spot is also moving. In its April roundup of closures, Eater LA reported that Pop's Bagels would leave its longtime San Vicente Boulevard location. Eater said Pop's would move into the former B&T's Deli space on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica sometime before the end of the year. If the move happens on that schedule, San Vicente loses one of its regular breakfast stops while Barrington adds bagel shops at both ends.

A Barrington Day, End to End

Because the new places sit at both ends of one street, a full day can stay on Barrington:

  1. Morning at the 900 block. Get a bagel and a matcha at Layla Bagels at 908 S. Barrington, or coffee at La La Land on the corner at 11698 San Vicente.
  2. Midday pickup. Order a sandwich from Nikó Sando at 912 S. Barrington or Vietnamese takeout from Vui Ve at 1168 S. Barrington.
  3. An early dinner in the Village. Try for a table on Barrington Walk at Terroni, or book The Wilkes at the corner of Barrington Avenue and Barrington Place.
  4. Late. Go back south for hand rolls at Sora at 906 S. Barrington. On Friday or Saturday, Burger She Wrote at 11686 San Vicente serves until 11 p.m.

Sunday has its own fixed point a few blocks west. The Brentwood Farmers Market sets up at 741 Gretna Green Way, at San Vicente and Montana, every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. year-round. The market also hosts one-off specials, such as the focaccia cinnamon roll with cream-cheese dip that Jennie's House and Cinnie's offered there on October 18.

The market holds Sunday morning, and the rest of the week's openings have gone to Barrington, most of them within a block of one corner or the other.

Which blocks are adding everyday places is one of the most practical things to know about a Brentwood address, whether you own here now or are thinking about where to be next.
