Between the food hall that took over 11770 San Vicente in April, a second Savta opening a few blocks off Barrington, and the Getty preparing to go dark for a year, the map of a Brentwood weekend has quietly shifted. If you live here, you have probably already noticed the parking near Gretna Green is worse and the courtyard at the Country Mart is busier on Wednesday mornings than it used to be.
Here is the argument in one line: for the first time in a while, the Country Mart is not the only center of gravity in Brentwood. This summer, the neighborhood has three, and each one rewards a different kind of Saturday.
The San Vicente Corridor Is Behaving Differently This Year
The most concrete change is a food hall. Neighborly Brentwood opened on Saturday, April 11, and the multi-vendor concept brought in four chef-run stalls under one order: What Gaby's Cooking from Gaby Dalkin, Mini Kabob from the Martirosyan family, Mixtape from Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, and Palermo Pizza Club from Frank Pinello of Brooklyn's Best Pizza. The signage went up at 11770 San Vicente Blvd, and the format lets a table order across menus in a single ticket, with a gourmet marketplace attached for takeaway.
That is a real change to the corridor. Brentwood has never had a food hall on this stretch, and the four operators pull very different crowds. Mini Kabob has a Glendale following that will drive across town. Palermo brings a New York pizza audience. Mixtape is a first Los Angeles project from a name most people know for other reasons. The practical effect: a weekday lunch problem for anyone working near San Vicente just got easier, and a Friday night in Brentwood is now a plausible plan without leaving the neighborhood.
A block west, the handroll scene has doubled. Savta, which built its following at the Original Farmers Market, has expanded to a second, more spacious Brentwood location at 906 S Barrington Ave, running the same handroll menu including tuna with truffle and jalapeño, red snapper with yuzu kosho and cilantro, and a version with uni, caviar, and toro. Weekday lunch includes an appetizer and three handrolls for $32. For a category that usually starts north of $50 at counters like this, $32 at lunch is the number worth remembering.
And there is a marker on the calendar for next year. The h.wood Group, the operator behind Delilah and Harriet's, is developing Montana's at 11920 San Vicente Blvd, described as a restaurant and lounge with a clubhouse atmosphere, slated for an early 2027 opening. That will land almost exactly as the Getty closes for its refresh, which is the second thing shaping the neighborhood's summer.
Off the 405, One Last Summer Before the Getty Goes Quiet
If you have never been to Off the 405, this is the summer to fix that. The Getty Center will close for planned improvements from March 2027 through early 2028, and the concert series will likely take a year off after this summer.
The series itself is well established. Off the 405 has drawn crowds to the Getty's courtyard since 2009, with Saturday-night performances at 7:30 p.m. preceded by a 6 p.m. DJ set, free live music with the sun setting over the skyline in one of the city's best museums. The 2026 run opened May 30 with aja monet, and Hunx and His Punx, Leenalchi, Horse Lords, and Laurel Halo round out the schedule, with the final night on August 22.
A few practical notes worth knowing if you have not been in a while:
- Entry is free but requires an advance reservation, and tickets typically become available about three weeks ahead of each show.
- Parking drops to $15 after 3 p.m., and the Getty offers free parking after 6 p.m. on Saturdays, which makes the whole night genuinely free if you time it right.
- Galleries and gardens stay open until 9 p.m. on Saturdays, so it is worth arriving early and making a day of it.
Between now and August 22, this is the closest thing Brentwood has to a farewell party for a piece of infrastructure that has defined its summers for more than fifteen years.
Sunday Still Belongs to Gretna Green
The one thing that has not changed is the Sunday morning market. The Brentwood Certified Farmers' Market runs year-round at 741 Gretna Green Way and San Vicente Blvd on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you have lived here through a few seasons, you already have a lap you walk. The market is bigger than the Santa Monica Sunday market on Main Street, with portable restrooms, unofficial dogs everywhere, roughly 15+ flower bouquet stalls, two seafood vendors, one mushroom specialty vendor, 25+ farmers and hot food vendors, and 5+ flower or plant vendors on a typical Sunday. Since the Pacific Palisades Farmers Market was lost, this market has taken in a number of the familiar Palisades vendors, which is a quiet piece of continuity for people displaced from that community.
Parking is the same conversation every week. Street parking on San Vicente along the golf course is your best bet, at the cost of a five-plus-minute walk in. If you are on the Montana Avenue side, you already know your side streets.
The Country Mart Is Programming for Regulars
The Country Mart has always drawn a mixed audience. This summer, the programming leans hard toward the people who live within a two-mile radius. A quick read of what is actually on the calendar:

The food anchors are unchanged and still worth naming, because visitors who read national guides always ask. Reddi Chick is the outdoor food court's most-cited stall, alongside California-inspired fare and natural wine at Farmshop, and shops including Doen, Jenni Kayne, and the original Goop store. The Brentwood Country Mart sits at 225 26th Street just south of San Vicente, a 30,000-square-foot center that opened November 18, 1948, and remains fiercely protected by the residents who use it daily.
The reason it matters for a resident, not a tourist: the Country Mart is programming for a weekday morning with a two-year-old and a weeknight book signing, not for a Saturday out-of-towner. That is a different orientation than most Los Angeles retail destinations, and it is why it still works.
How to Spend the Rest of August
If you have three free windows this month, here is the honest allocation:
- A Saturday night at the Getty, before August 22. Reserve the Laurel Halo closing show if you can, or one of the earlier dates that still has space. Arrive at 6 p.m. for free parking, walk the gardens, and stay through the sunset set.
- A Wednesday lunch at Neighborly. Bring people who want different things. The whole point of the format is that no one has to compromise.
- A Sunday morning at Gretna Green, ideally before 10:30, when the market is manageable. Walk over to Jon & Vinny's after if the wait is reasonable.
